Rhythms Del Mundo – Classics

Some of the biggest stars in the music industry have joined forces with the sublime talent of Cuba’s finest musicians to raise their voices and create the latest Rhythms Del Mundo album, ‘Classics’, produced to raise awareness and funds for climate crisis projects and natural disaster relief.

Classics Artists: Classics Artists

The album was released by Universal Music on July 13, 2009 and features the unmistakable vocals of artists including The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Jack Johnson, The Rolling Stones, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, and many others. The result is a unique formula merging Afro-Cubano rhythms with some of the most memorable songs of the last 40 years. With brand new recordings from the likes of The Killers, Editors, KT Tunstall, The Zutons and OneRepublic, through to special recordings from contributing artists such as Amy Winehouse, one particular review predicted the album would become “the soundtrack to the summer”.

Kenny Young, RDM’s producer and founder of APE says: “These great artists have given up their time to be part of an album that will raise awareness for the most crucial crisis facing us today, Climate change is our greatest global challenge and unless we act now, future generations will suffer from our greed and ignorance. The time to act is now.”

Album contributor K T Tunstall added, “Our planet is in crisis; the poorest populations of the world who have contributed least to the problem are already experiencing the disastrous results of our way of life in the industrialized world. We in developed nations must all work together as a global team to reduce our levels of consumption and waste, and put pressure on our governments to do the same.”

“We’ve got one earth, and one shot at not screwing it up. The oil crisis came at the perfect time, it’s helping the whole world focus on how they use energy and what kind of energy. It is each person’s responsibility as a human “visiting” this planet during their life to leave it in a better place than they found it.”
Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic

“If you need reminding about how important it is to change our habits, lobby our politicians and bring humanity back from the brink of self-destruction, take a look at Al Gore’s film ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Global warming is no longer the fantasy of a handful of scientists, it is a universally accepted fact and if we want future generations to enjoy music, art, adventure, happiness, life and love, then we must do something about it.”
Tom Chaplin, Keane

“Humans caused climate change. Our inaction towards the problem has exacerbated it. These are facts and any argument to the contrary will be rendered moot if we don’t start cleaning up our act immediately.”
Patrick Vaughn Stump, Fall Out Boy

“Global warming is a terrible threat to the future of our planet and civilization as we know it. Really bad shit. The more pressure applied on the powers that be, the more chance something can be done about it. It will be too late soon. Please walk more and turn the lights off when you leave the room.”
Tom Smith, Editors

“Now we have a deadline before all goes pear shaped but the solution is not in the hands of the ‘authorities’ only, but in our own. If we all followed the basic environmental laws at home, in the office, in the school, wherever you are, things will change dramatically for the good, then we won’t have to wait for anyone to tell us what to do, when and how. Now all the info you need, in case you don’t know where to start, is online, including the massive negative impact on the environment that is the totally unnecessary meat eating habit!!!”
