Reporting on incineration, ash and its environmental footprint
The purpose of this organisation is to undermine proposals for a new generation of incinerators in the UK, which would burn household waste producing greenhouse gases and other pollutants. The project will research and write a report exploring the disposal of incinerator ash, so as to identify opportunities for the development of a campaign strategy to reduce the use of incineration and the reclassification of incinerator ash as hazardous waste with its associated higher disposal costs.

“APE’s funding has enabled us to investigate the regulation of ash from municipal waste incinerators – a source of greenhouse gases. There’s good reason to believe that present regulatory regime for incinerator ash is inadequate to protect the environment from its toxic pollutants.” UK Win
